In  the  early "1950's" a young energenic high school boy named Nyal Carver found his interest in ornamaental horticulture and landscape design in a horticulture class at school. Upon graduating from high school he enrolled at Mt. Santonio Junior Collage in their ornamental horticulture class,and graduated in "1954" with an Associate of Science degree. After Moving to central California, Nyal enrolled at fresno State and graduated in "1957" with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ornamenal Horticulture and Landscape Design..

Upon finishing school, Nyal returned to southern California, where he worked in Culver City at a branch of Armstrong Nurseries as a salesman. In "1958" Nyal was offered a position as manager of the Dinuba Nurseries in Dinuba, California. It was here that Nyal developed his first landscape contracting division within the firm. In "1960" he started a buisness of his own called Landscpae Specialties. In "1962" he opened

Nyal's Nursery and spent the next five years involed in landscpae design and instillation.

During this period of time Nyal became aware of a need for more than just flowering plants and trees. Something was definitely missing in most landscape designs.

After studying the situation, he soon realized that the natural beauty of rocks, boulders and water had been completely left out of every job.

At this point Nyal started pioneering the use of rocks snd water into most of his designs, and the ardent task of discovering and hauling in beautiful rock and boulders began.
